While you may be most familiar with the brand name Invisalign, did you know there are many brands of clear aligners available?
Clear aligners are clear, thermoplastic trays that reposition and straighten your teeth without wires or fixed brackets. Instead, you wear your set of trays for the prescribed time frame (usually two weeks) and then switch them out with the next in the series.

What to Expect: Step by Step
Book an exam and consultation with our practice to find out if you qualify for SmileStyler treatment. During your visit, we’ll take a series of photographs, X-rays and digital scans of your teeth to use as part of the treatment planning process. If you’re ready to start treatment, just let us know, and we’ll move on to having SmileStyler labs fabricate your customised aligners.
About two weeks after your consultation, your digitally designed SmileStyler trays will be ready to start wearing. Every 6-8 weeks, you’ll need to stop by our practice to pick up your next several sets of trays. We’ll take a few minutes to evaluate your bite and ensure everything is moving along properly. Unlike traditional braces, you won’t need any “adjustments,” so these visits go by fairly quickly.
Remove your aligners for meals, brushing and flossing. Clean them each night with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm tap water. Avoid hot water or abrasive toothpaste, as they can warp or scratch your trays. Be sure to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day, so that your treatment schedule stays on track.
Each case is different, but most of our patients will complete their orthodontic therapy within 12-18 months. When it’s over, you’ll need clear retainers to preserve the positioning of your teeth. Your retention system mimics the appearance of your aligners, so they’re discreet even when worn during the day.
